I have honestly never been so excited about a light and a lighting modifier before. Using lights to up your production value in videos is a widely known fact. nice video....i would love to see some REAL life scenarios shoots so i know if this price is really worth the weight of it...otherwise $6000 for a tripod is just too expensive....i mean if this tripod was motorized and did some things that was push button - key in the height and it automatically goes to that height....etc...might be interesting...also it should come WITH a motorised slider part as part of the set....but alas nothing like that....maybe future models will be more interesting... thank you ...

      I have used this for quite some time now and I will tell you it is worth it. There are many cheaper alternatives now, but I would still pick this. The quality is second to none. The small rig potato jet tripod looks really good through and I will get that for my second cam. A cam would still live on this tripod :)

    I used a Sachtler system with an FSB 8T head with SpeedLock 75 legs, which I liked all except for the fact that the pan bar always slipped when tilting, no matter how HARD I tightened it onto the head! Please tell me the Aktiv series has better "teeth" on the rosettes so the pan bars don't slip!

    Hello Bernard, thank you for this great Video! 😊 I have a Sony Alpha 7R V and I am not sure if it is really an advantage to use the S35 Mode for Videos because of the 5K readout oversampled to 4K. Here I have to stick with 30fps and the XAVC-S Format. Otherwise I could use the XAVC-HS Format and 60fps but then I have no S35 Crop with Oversampling. What would you suggest?

    • @BernardLau1991

      honestly, I think these things don't matter too significantly. The difference would be negligible. Just focus on composition and lighting and that is what your audience would pick up on haha

    Great comprehensive review! I would like to seek your opinion. Given my primary interest in photography, particularly in areas such as travel, street, landscape, architecture, and occasional portraits, which Sony lens would you recommend: the 35mm f/1.4 GM or the 35mm f/1.8?

    • @BernardLau1991

    • @nicedward7544

      All it does is crop the frame. There will technically not be more noise but it will make it a bit more noticeable just as cropping in would. On the R cameras it actually makes the video much better because it utilizes down sampling instead of the pixel binning it does in FF mode.

    i own Both 35 1,4 GM and 35 1.8 and there is no difference in sharpness i was so confused. and 1.8 is so small and compact. Image from 35 1,4 looks more simple and 1.8 has more art look. The only Benefit of GM is its colors more clean and has no color tint. Im thinking about to sell it and change for zoom lens .

    Very well done video and practical evaluation, Bernard. Thank you! As an amateur photographer who enjoys many aspects of the hobby, from landscape, to city walks, interesting faces, low-light and architecture I own both the 90mm (for macro) and the 85 f/1.8…because the salesman sold it to a newbie. Can you think of any reason for owning both these lenses? I could return the 85, pay about $100 restocking fee and just move on, or keep both and chalk it up to experience. What do you think? Thanks for all your videos; I am glad I discovered them. Bravo! Best, Will

    • @BernardLau1991
      @BernardLau1991 2 місяці тому

      Thank you for your kind words. :) For me, if I were to ever get an 85mm, I would go for the 85 F1.4. Make the difference more distinct. Or you can do what I did, I got the 35 f1,8 and the 50 f1.4 instead. Also great lens for taking portraits, but different styles. Why get a 90 and an 85 for the "same look"
